Biography

Bobby Labonte's racing career began at the age of 5 in Corpus Christi, TX. There, he raced quarter-midgets, and advanced to go-karts at the age of 14. In 1987, he won his first NASCAR championship at Caraway Speedway racing late-model stockcars. Bobby moved up to the Busch Series in 1990, and was the Division Champion in 1991. Labonte won his first Winston Cup victory in the Coca-Cola 600 atCharlotte in 1995. He went on two win both races inMichigan in the same year.

Winston Cup Career

A special CONGRATULATIONS to all the guys for the record-setting win at Rockingham's Unocal 76 pit Crew Championship. Jeff, Derek, Scott, Todd, Peter, Barry and Jason all worked together to set a new record at 19.166 seconds to beat Jeff Gordon's 1994 record of 19.363. Keep up the good work, it's guys like you that make it happen!

1999 Y-T-D Stats Races: 30 Wins: 4 Top 5's: 19 Winston Cup Points: 4,195 Earnings: $1,820,411 NEWS Earlier this month fans felt that Bobby Labonte would be the first choice for ex-Gordon Crew chief Ray Evernham's Chrysler Team, scheduled to run in 2001. However, bobby said that he has just signed a new five-year contract to stay with Joe Gibbs in the number 18 Pontiac. Also said to have signed for five years are Crew Chief Jimmy Makar, and Chief Engine Man, Mark Cronquist.
